Body Found in Newaygo County is Victim of Hit-and-Run Accident

A passerby found the body of Steven Jones, 61,  around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning in the area of 11 Mile Road and 16th Street. That's near Woodland Lake in Bitely, MI.

The Newaygo County Sheriff's Department are investigating the case as a deadly hit and run accident.

Detectives believe Jones was walking east on 11 Mile Road when he was hit by a passing vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are looking for a vehicle with front-side passenger damage. Anyone with information is asked to call the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department at (231) 689-7303.
