GM to Discontinue The Final Bench Seat
Sad Day! When GM redesigns the 2014 model; it will mark the end of a traditional front-seat design - the Bench Seat! The outgoing Impala is the last passenger car in production in North America to offer the bench seat - the first bench seat appeared in 1911.
Only one in 10 Impala buyers chose the $195 option last year for a front bench according to GM. Front "bucket" seats are the norm now – a trend that GM says will likely continue, at least for now.
All I can say is BOOOOO! I've yet to find a bucket seat that's more comfortable than a bench seat. Bucket seats are terrible for drive in's too, you can't be "close" to anyone with a console in the middle!
