Grand Rapids Speedskater Shares Unique View of Frozen Lake Michigan [Video]

Last week, conditions on Lake Michigan were perfect for West Michigan Speedskating Club member April Chernoby to put on her skates, start up her camera and take a spin around the lake.

A video she shared on YouTube shows just how smooth the surface of Lake Michigan was.

The video was shot near Grand Haven, so you'll recognize the lighthouse.

WZZM-13 asked Chernoby if she planned to return to do more skating on the lake, and she said the conditions have changed quite a bit since last week. Now, the ice is too snow-covered to skate on.

Ah, Pure Michigan. It's beautiful even when it's freezing.
