There were more firearm deer hunting licenses sold in 2025 than 2024. With the season starting on a Saturday, this gave all hunters an equal opportunity at getting into the woods at the same time. Many hunters can't take off opening day from work, and often can only hunt on weekends, so it's a big deal when the first day of gun season is on a Saturday.
