The Acrisure Amphitheater is open. The soccer stadium is moving forward. The riverfront is still shifting with the Restore the Rapids project. And new spots keep popping up downtown, like the market with 70+ vendors and the alcohol-free jazz bar.

Grand Rapids Downtown Market New Live Music Series

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market is launching Summer Sounds Under the Shed.  It's a free summer music series that brings together live entertainment, food, drinks, yard games, and a place to hang out before shows.

Summer Sounds Under the Shed runs select Saturdays this summer, June 13, July 18, and August 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. under the Market Shed at 435 Ionia Ave. SW.

Concert Tie-Ins for Jelly Roll, Hank Williams Jr., and Thomas Rhett

The first night on June 13 lines up with the Jelly Roll show at Acrisure Amphitheater. Beforehand, take IN live music from Chris Cranick at the Downtown Market. If dinner is on the agenda, the market has more than 20 food vendors and restaurants. There's even a special menu with items priced $15 or less.

There is also a free shuttle running to the amphitheater for those heading to the show, which helps take some pressure off getting to and from a busy concert night.

Pre-parties are also going on for Hank Williams Jr. July 18 and Thomas Rhett August 22.

Even if you are not going to a concert, it still works as a simple summer hangout. Free music, outdoor seating, and a reason to sit downtown for a couple hours when the weather is good!
