And right now? Grand Rapids Public Library is offering even MORE goodies because September is Library Card Sign Up Month. So, GRPL is going all out with fun giveaways and local discounts!

Who Is Eligible for Grand Rapids Public Library Card?

If you live in Grand Rapids and are 18 or older, all you need is a valid photo ID and proof of address to get a free card online or at any branch (parents can sign up anyone 17 or younger).

Where Can You Use Your GRPL Card?

First off, your card works at all eight Grand Rapids Public Library branches across the city, including the Main Branch downtown, Madison Square, Seymour, West Leonard, West Side, Yankee Clipper, Creston, and Ottawa Hills. But your card's reach goes way beyond city limits.

You can use your GRPL card to check out materials through Kent District Library, the Lakeland Library Cooperative, and statewide through MeLCat (the Michigan eLibrary Catalog).

Special Cards & Keychains: Sign up for a card this month to grab a limited edition design and keychain. Keychains are available exclusively for in-person sign ups while supplies last. Existing cardholders can renew or make a suggested donation of $1 or more per perk to grab them.
Branch Freebies & Drawings: Drop by your neighborhood branch for free stickers and bookmarks. You can also enter drawings to win exclusive library gear and a Schuler Books gift card.
City-Wide Seek & Find: GRPL placed library posters in public parks, near branches, and on street poles across Grand Rapids. Tear a slip off the bottom of a poster and bring it to any GRPL service desk to claim a free limited edition water bottle (one prize per returned slip, all ages, while supplies last).
