It's finally starting to look and feel like spring, and if you're excited to be comfortably getting out of the house, imagine how pumped your dogs are to be outside, too. As it gets warmer, people are flocking to parks and dog parks to soak up the sun and let their dogs burn off some steam.

However, if your go-to dog park is Hillcrest Dog Park in Grand Rapids, you'll need to find an alternative park, as the park will be closed for an extended period after a tree fell and damaged the fenced-in area.

Hillcrest Park Damaged by Falling Tree

Hillcrest Park, located inside Fuller Park, is a popular spot for people living in Downtown Grand Rapids to bring their dogs. But now they'll need to find an alternate location.

⬇️POPULAR DOG PARKS AROUND GRAND RAPIDS⬇️

The weekend of March 13th saw Grand Rapids dealing with severe weather, from rain to strong winds. It ended up being strong enough to topple a massive tree onto the park's fenced-in area, knocking down a fence and a light pole. The City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation announced that, as a result, the park would be closed until further notice.

Well, it looks like that notice is going to be longer than expected. The Forestry division successfully removed the massive tree and its stump, but that was only the beginning. As the Parks and Rec department figures out how to repair the fencing, lighting, and electrical damage, the park will remain closed until further notice.
