The Michigan Christmas Tree Shines Bright At The White House
Ever since much of the country was coated by a Thanksgiving snowstorm, Michigan has had an extended holiday season. In my household, the Christmas tree has been up since Black Friday, and many others I know have done the same.

One such house that is ready for the holiday season is America's most famous house, the White House in Washington, D.C. Even though the White House is over 700 miles away from Grand Rapids, D.C. has a special helping of Michigan this year since the official Christmas tree came from a farm here.
Now, that tree is upright and decorated for all to see.
Blue Room Christmas Tree
The Blue Room of the White House is the central formal parlor on the main floor and is the designated reception area for guests. More importantly, it is where the annual White House Christmas tree is housed, with the first Christmas tree being set up in 1912 by President Taft's kids.
The 19-foot Concolor fir grown at Korson's Tree Farms in Sidney, Michigan, arrived at the White House on November 21st. Korson's received the honor of having their tree featured in the White House after it won this year's National Christmas Tree Grand Championship.

This year's theme for the tree is "Home Is Where the Heart Is". Another massive Christmas tree, a 32-foot spruce, is featured outside the White House.
