Since I was a little kid, the library has always brought me joy. I was a major bookworm as a kid, and one of my favorite parts of going to the library was that satisfying chunk sound of the due date stamp getting pressed into the front page of the book. These days, I can only get that thrill by stumbling upon an old book at an antique shop.

But ever on its toes, the Kent District Library knows how to give the people what they want, and for the rest of the year, they're bringing back that lovely stamp for a unique challenge only for adults. Get ready to feel Stampworthy and get some cool prizes just for checking out books.

Kent District Library's Stampworthy

Next time you're at any Kent District Library (KDL) branch, you'll want to grab a Stampworthy Adult Reader Card.  From October 1st to December 31st, KDL is partnering with local businesses to give readers a bit of nostalgia (and a chance to win gift cards to Schuler Books, Hall Street Bakery, Deep Roots Produce, Golden Hour Bookshop, and Lindo Mexico).

Each time a reader checks out at least five items at once, they'll get a good old-fashioned due date stamp on their reader card. Once you've got 5 stamps, you can drop it in a drop box. Again, you need to check out at least five items to get a stamp.

There's no limit to how many cards you can complete, so if you want better chances at the prize, keep checking out those books! At the end of the day, the hardest part is deciding which books to check out.

Take A look At Vintage Grand Rapids From 100 Years Ago

Grand Rapids in 2026 looks very different from what it did in the 1920s. See how the city looked at its peak as Furniture City.
