Located on Plainfield Avenue, Kingma’s has been a beloved part of the Grand Rapids community for more than 100 years. It began in 1917 with the Kingma family selling produce out of a wagon before growing into a neighborhood grocery staple.
After decades of family ownership, the market changed hands around 2014, but longtime shoppers would argue the heart of the place never left.

Today, Kingma’s is known just as much for its friendly vibe as it is for its butcher counter, cheese cases, wine selection, and shelves packed with Michigan-made goods. A major expansion in 2023 added more space and new departments.
