Primarily based in Hamilton, Kittens In The Mitten is hosting a Valentine’s Day fundraiser that mixes rescue cats, healing, and a little snark.

How to Make Your Ex Pay… Kind Of

For just $5, Kittens In The Mitten (KITM) will write the name of your ex in a litter box. Then yep, the kitties take care of the rest. Don't have a crappy ex that deserves to be crapped on? Anyone who’s wronged you will do! A terrible boss. A former friend. That one person who still owes you money. Send the name in and let Kittens In The Mitten handle the karma.

It is petty? Yes. It is for a good cause? One thousand percent yes. It's a playful concept, but the money raised supports a very real need!

The Cats Who Really Need You

KITM is a 100 percent donation-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to helping stray cats and kittens across West Michigan, particularly those with significant medical or care challenges.

The rescue specializes in FIP treatments, abandoned neonatal kittens, pregnant and nursing mother cats, cats with cerebellar hypoplasia, and other special-needs cases. Volunteers also frequently assist in hoarding and overpopulation situations involving stray and feral cats.

Give Cats Your Cash (and Your Ex’s Name)

The fundraiser runs through February 12, with the litter boxes scheduled to make their Valentine’s Day appearance on February 14 at Lazy Cat Lounge and Consignment Shop in Holland.

Organizers say the fundraiser offers supporters a way to blow off a little Valentine’s Day steam while helping fund veterinary care, medical treatment, and daily supplies for the more than 180 cats currently in the rescue’s care. See just a few in the photos above and below.
