Ed Sheeran has headlined (and sold out) countless stages, arenas and festivals across the world. But he says that one concert in Michigan holds a special place above them all in his heart.
During a recent episode of Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter told host Kylie Kelce (wife of NFL star Jason Kelce) that the loudest crowd he’s ever heard anywhere in the world wasn’t in London, New York, or Tokyo. It was in Detroit, during his 2023 show at Ford Field.

And while Sheeran admits there was a bit of a “cheat code” involved in getting everyone in the 313 to be so loud, it’s one that only Detroit could deliver.

“We brought on Eminem, and that was the loudest I’ve ever heard a crowd, like anywhere in the world,” Sheeran said. “There’s never been a louder crowd than that.”

The moment he’s referring to happened on July 15, 2023, when Sheeran surprised fans by launching into a cover of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Suddenly, Eminem emerged from beneath the stage, sending Ford Field into an absolute frenzy.

The Detroit rap legend hadn’t performed in his hometown in years, making the guest appearance even more electrifying.

The pair followed up with a live rendition of “Stan,” another iconic Eminem track featuring Sheeran’s vocals. The crowd didn’t stop roaring for the rest of the night.

Later in the interview, Sheeran (though an admitted Tennessee Titans fan) revealed he’s rooting for the Detroit Lions to win the next Super Bowl. Between his love for the Motor City and that legendary Ford Field moment, it sounds like Sheeran’s got a soft spot for us here in Michigan.
