Valencia Homered In His MLB Debut Then Pointed To The Sky For Venezuela

But that is not the big story everyone is talking about, instead everyone is celebrating an amazing moment last night that was 8 years in the making.

Back in 2018 when he was just 18 years old Eduardo Valencia was signed by the Tigers.

Since then he played in 439 games in the minors before finally getting the call to the big leagues.

Eduardo Valencia was called up from the Triple-A Toledo Mudhens earlier in the day because Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler was recovering from a bruised right hand.

In the 7th inning, Eduardo entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Kerry Carpenter and with his first MLB at bat crushed a home run 425-feet to centerfield.

As Eduardo was running around the bases he pointed to the sky and pounded his chest.

Eduardo talked to the media after the game and shared that his thoughts were with his parents, who couldn't make the trip to see his debut, and the people of Venezuela, who are recovering from a rare double earthquake that killed over 900 people and injured thousands.
