If you’ve been waiting for a good excuse to get your next tattoo, consider this your sign from the universe.

And if you already have more cat tattoos than you can count, well… here’s your chance to add one more for a genuinely adorable reason.

Happy Cat Café in Grand Rapids is teaming up with Meeting House Tattoo for a special one-day event called Tats for Cats, where you’ll get to show up, pick from a number of cat-themed flash designs and walk out with fresh ink that helps save local rescue cats. (It feels like the kind of win-win only tattooed cat people truly understand.)

The event runs from noon to 7 at Meeting House Tattoo, and everything is first come, first served so I’d recommend planning to show up earlier, rather than later.

Each tattoo is one hundred dollars, cash only, and you do need to be eighteen or older to participate. All of the designs are cat themed, and yes, they know you’re probably already imagining which one you’d choose. (Same.)

Bonus: Every dollar of profit supports Fig and Friends Pet Rescue, the local rescue group that partners with Happy Cat Café to place cats in loving homes around West Michigan. So that cute tattoo won’t just be for the love of the cats, it’s helping real cats get medical care, shelter and a chance to finally find their furever person.

If you want the best pick of the designs, plan to get there early. Flash events always move fast, and this one is likely to draw a pretty passionate crowd of cat lovers, tattoo fans and people who simply can’t resist a good cause wrapped in good art.

So whether you’re finally getting your first tattoo or proudly adding number four hundred to the collection, this is one of the most heartwarming reasons you’ll find to do it. And you’ll be helping a whole lot of cats along the way.
