Until now, cannabis customers in West Michigan were out of luck once dispensaries closed their doors as early as 9 pm. But thanks to a new ordinance in Muskegon, night owls and second shifters now have a few more options.

As of August 22nd, Muskegon dispensaries with drive-thru service are allowed to stay open until 2 am.

That’s two hours later than they were previously allowed. Before that, the city of Muskegon rules only permitted sales between 8 am and midnight, which is still two hours later than nearby cities like Grand Rapids.

Grassy Knoll, a Muskegon dispensary, led the charge to expand operating hours.

According to Fox17, they petitioned Muskegon Planning Director Mike Franzak, who brought the proposal to the city commission. On August 12th, the commission approved the change, making late-night cannabis purchases in Muskegon a reality.

The move reflects the competitive nature of Michigan’s cannabis industry, where convenience matters just as much as product selection.

And for Muskegon, it’s a chance to meet customer demand while supporting local businesses and giving dispensaries a better chance of securing sales to keep themselves open in an extremely competitive market.

So whether you’re grabbing a bag of Doritos at the gas station or swinging through Taco Bell, West Michigan’s cannabis community now has a way to stock up for those other late-night cravings, too.
