West Michigan Intersection Lands on List of the State’s Most Dangerous

Every year, the folks at Michigan Auto Law comb through data from the Michigan State Police to put together a list of Michigan's most dangerous intersections. They've done the same this year, and one West Michigan intersection landed on the list.

While the intersection in question is pretty dicey, I'm honestly surprised that a few more in the area didn't make the cut.

Michigan's Most Dangerous Intersections

After poring over the data from the MSP, Michigan Auto Law compiled a lengthy list of dangerous intersections in the state. They based the list on the total number of crashes at those intersections as well as the total number of injuries and fatalities.

Of the twenty intersections that made the list, nineteen of them are on the east side of the state in cities like Warren, Ypsilanti, Livonia, and Ann Arbor.

But a West Michigan intersection was listed at number nineteen.

West Michigan's Most Dangerous Intersection

According to Michigan Auto Law, the one West Michigan intersection that makes the state's most dangerous list is the intersection of US-131 and Wealthy St. According to their data, that intersection saw 73 crashes and twelve injuries in 2024.

The intersection is known to be dangerous to residents and officials in Grand Rapids. In fact, back at the end of July, the city OK'd an agreement with MDOT to do an evaluation of the intersection and work toward a new, safer design.

Michigan Auto Law also put together county-by-county lists of the most dangerous intersections. You can check out the results for Kent County, Kalamazoo County, and Muskegon County on their website.
