If you have ever planned your day around tracking down a specific food truck in West Michigan, you probably already know about Sweet Racks & Smokin' Butts.

For years, they have been rolling around the area in that familiar green truck, popping up at events, markets, and random lunch hours. And if you missed them, you missed them. That was just part of the deal. Now that part is changing.

Sweet Racks & Smokin' Butts is opening its first brick and mortar location in Grandville, just off 28th Street. Which means you will finally be able to get their food even when the truck is not out and about. They’ll be located in the same shopping center as The Corner Record store (another favorite haunt of mine) at 2996 28th SW

The husband and wife owned business has been building toward this moment for a long time. They started competing in BBQ competitions as far back as 2009, long before the food truck became a regular sight around West Michigan.  While they have a silly name, they claim to be dead serious about their BBQ.

Speaking personally, I have gone out of my way to find them whenever I could. So the idea of a permanent location feels like a win for people who have been chasing that green truck for years.

Over the weekend, the owners shared an update on Facebook explaining why they waited to announce an opening date. They wanted to be certain before putting anything out there, especially with inspections and final details that can easily cause delays. But, they have now reached that point.

Sweet Racks & Smokin' Butts plans to open its Grandville location on Wednesday, January 21. They will be open from 10am to 8pm, with online ordering available for takeout as well as seating for 42 people who want to dine in.

In their post, they shared how pleased they are with how everything has come together and with the team they have built to make this next chapter work. They are also encouraging people to watch for the Facebook event and come out for lunch or dinner on opening day.

After years of tracking them down across West Michigan, it feels right to finally know exactly where they will be. And for anyone who has ever shown up just a little too late to the truck, this might feel extra satisfying.
