Semi Truck Driver Leads Northern Michigan Police on a Medium-Speed Chase
A semi truck driver led police in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on a chase before they were finally able to stop the truck and arrest the man behind the wheel.
It all went down in Chippewa County on the eastern side of the Upper Peninsula on September 30.

According to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, they received a call that morning from someone stating that they had witnessed a semi truck running vehicles off the road near Mackinac Trail and 6 Mile Road, south of Sault Ste. Marie. The caller also reported that the truck was running stop signs.

Officers were dispatched and eventually caught up with the truck near M-28 and Mackinac Trail near Dafter. The officer attempted to pull the semi over, but it did not stop. As police followed, they observed the driver swerving off the road and causing other drivers to pull off.
Eventually, an officer was able to get in front of the semi and block an upcoming intersection. Upon seeing the intersection blocked, the semi driver slammed on the brakes and came to a stop. Police say that the chase never exceeded 60 mph.

Peake has been charged with felony fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and operating under the influence of a controlled substance. Police currently have possession of the truck and, according to 9 and 10 news, have obtained a warrant to search it. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
