Benton Harbor’s Whirlpool Teams Up With Outkast’s Big Boi for a Fresh Spin
When people think of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Whirlpool often comes to mind. The appliance giant has been a cornerstone of the community for generations, with its headquarters right here in West Michigan.
But now, Whirlpool is making headlines for something that blends music, culture, and a little bit of laundry-day fun.
Hip-hop legend Big Boi (one half of the iconic group Outkast) has partnered with Whirlpool to create a washing machine that celebrates one of our favorite songs, and the fact that our laundry is done. He posted a teaser to social media last week:
This limited-edition front-load washer plays Outkast’s hit “So Fresh, So Clean” at the end of each cycle, turning your laundry space into a mini concert.
I honestly thought it was just going to be one of those little chimes, but the fact it actually plays a clip of the song is even cooler.
Here’s the catch: only five of these machines exist, and Whirlpool is giving them away through a sweepstakes.
For a chance to win, fans need to follow Whirlpool USA on Instagram, like the giveaway post, and comment with #WhirlpoolSoFresh. Tagging a friend in the comments will get you an extra entry. The sweepstakes runs until noon on September 23, and winners will be contacted via Instagram DM.

Whether or not you snag one of the rare machines, it’s pretty cool to see a Benton Harbor-based company doings something so cool and proving that laundry time can, in fact, be so fresh and so clean clean.
