Did You Know the West Michigan Whitecaps Were in Anchorman 2?

The West Michigan Whitecaps are on a roll this season. (In case you missed it, this might just be one of their best seasons yet.) The team clinched a spot in the postseason before the halfway point of the year, a feat that has fans dreaming big for what’s ahead at LMCU Ballpark.

In the 2013 movie Anchorman 2, There’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the film where sportscaster Champ Kind (played by David Koechner) is shouting “Whammy!” over baseball highlights.

That’s not just random B-roll. Those are real-life West Michigan Whitecaps games, which is cool to see our own Grand Rapids-based minor league team make a cameo in one of the most beloved comedy sequels of the 2010s.
