Exciting Senior Pickleball Tournament in Grand Rapids This Weekend!

Pickleball has become the sports craze of the 21st Century, don't you think. I seems as if you may be out-of-the-loop if you are not playing some form of pickleball.

There are the casual players such as my wife Susie and I, and then there are the not so casual, ultra serious players.

THIS WEEKEND IS FOR YOU ULTRA PLAYERS!

Belknap Park in Grand Rapids is hosting a big Pickleball tournament this weekend for seniors! And, these players might be able to qualify for the US Senior Pickleball National Championship. Cool!

The super serious players already know about this because I'm told registration for the tournament is full. My that was fast.

It's free to spectate, so everyone is welcome to attend the US Senior Pickleball North Zone Championship.

The schedule for Friday through Sunday is:

Friday: Women's Doubles, Mixed Singles
Saturday: Mixed Doubles
Sunday: Men's Doubles, Women's Singles

The entire tournament is being held at the Grand Rapids Pickleball Club at Belknap Park. It is a very cool, first class, lighted facility which of course makes evening play work so well, and Humana is the sponsoring partner for the US Senior Championship Series for 2026.

Did you know that Pickleball is not a new sport. It’s actually been around since the 1960s. Who knew! Most of us hadn’t heard about pickleball until 2020 or later. Then it seemed to be the pandemic lockdown that fueled the rush to pickleball.

Being a sport that almost anyone can pick up and play, and a very social one, boom, it exploded.

This is a QUALIFIER for the US Senior Pickleball 2026 National Championship to be held at Casa Grande, AZ Nov 30-Dec 5, 2026. You MUST be a USSP member to play in the 2025 USSP National Championship.
