The Detroit Red Wings have reportedly made a massive decision that seems to point to some clear leadership dedication, as apparently they have agreed on a seven-year, $91 million contract extension with forward Alex DeBrincat, according to Max Bultman and Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

This has been a very tumultuous year for the Detroit Red Wings organization, with talks that former Captain Dylan Larkin wanted to leave Detroit after having issues with management and a rocky relationship with Steve Yzerman, who himself has taken a role change within the organization.

Now it looks as though Larkin will eventually be exiting the Detroit Red Wings organization at some point; however, it appears that the Detroit Red Wings have made a major investment in Alex DeBrincat.

He is easily one of the best players on the team and somebody who could eventually take over as Captain of the team, leadership that is desperately needed as the Detroit Red Wings are off to a rocky start to their season.

Only one win in six games just to start the season is not the way you want things to get kicked off, and the team seriously needs leadership that they can get behind in order to turn the organization around.

Steve Yzerman‘s return to Detroit has been incredibly underwhelming, and there needs to be a major culture change within the organization to get the Red Wings back to being the dominant force they once were.

Every Sweater Number in Detroit Red Wings History Worn Just Once (Or Not At All)

For whatever reason, these numbers have either been worn just once or never at all in the nearly 100-year history of Detroit Red Wings hockey, according to Hockey Reference.

(Hockey Reference suggests that No. 6 was only worn by Cummy Burton, which is incorrect as Larry Aurie wore the number first and the number is pseudo-retired. Such inaccuracies are difficult to narrow down, so where they can be corrected they will be.)
