Hockey Fans Cheering For Griff’s Epic Goal During All-Star Weekend
There’s been a lot of hockey in the news recently, but one clip you may not have seen, which may have been overshadowed by the Olympics, was a video of the Grand Rapids Griffins’ mascot, Griff, scoring a goal in what appeared to be an exhibition hockey game, strictly for mascots.
Over the Olympic break, the AHL hosted their All-Star game at the BMO Center in Rockford, Illinois, and during the competition if featured a mascot game with all the mascots of the AHL.

The event also featured skills competitions and a three-on-three All-Star challenge tournament on Wednesday, featuring the top NHL prospects and a total of 48 stars throughout the league.
But possibly the brightest star of them all was the Grand Rapids Griffin‘s mascot who made a brilliant play when he picked the puck up at center ice and played it off the boards to the right, pick the puck up through the face off circle, and drove it towards the net before shooting it in the three hole to score a goal for his team.
You can watch a video of the game below and watch him make an epic shot in the back of the net.
A mascot hockey game seems like so much fun, and honestly, I could watch them do this for an entire game. We need to make this a regular occurrence, and dare I say, it's own league. Something about watching mascots playing sports has always been entertaining, and I love that Griff was able to bury one in the net.
