The thought of someone stopping on the Mackinac Bridge, getting out of their vehicle, and making the decision to jump is absolutely heartbreaking.

According to MLive, Michigan State Police say security cameras captured a person jumping from the Mackinac Bridge early Thursday morning.

It all started around 12:35 Thursday morning when someone reported an abandoned vehicle on the bridge. Security cameras later showed a person getting out of the vehicle and going over the side. State police say they've identified the person and notified their family.

One thing that's causing some confusion is what happened after the person entered the water. We've seen conflicting reports on social media about whether the body has been recovered. Some people claim it was found Thursday, while others say the search continues.

As of now, Michigan State Police haven't confirmed whether the person has been recovered, so we're sticking with what they've officially released.

Sadly, this isn't the first time something like this has happened on the Mackinac Bridge. State police have responded to multiple similar incidents over the years, some ending in rescue and others in tragedy.
