It's the kind of question you almost certainly don't want to think about. Like "has anyone ever died in the house I'm living in," the question "has anyone ever died in an accident on my street" may give the the same unsettled feeling.

But if you do what to know, there's a very in-depth website for that.

The site is known as Roadway Reports and is a data-rich complication of all roadway deaths from the years 2001 to 2033.

Roadway Reports: A Deep Dive into the Data

From a national perspective the map, each red dot represents a fatal accident, shows clearly both traffic/population density and key interstate travel routes.

Each dot on the map has extremely detailed information about the crash with vehicles involved, weather conditions and a great deal more all culled from police reports.

Michigan's Fatal Footprint: Urban Hubs and Key Highways

Zooming into Michigan, the trend is similar to the national map. Heavily populated areas, were traffic is dense and accidents more likely like Detroit, Grand Rapids and Flint are clearly visible. As are the state's primary highways.

The link was shared to a thread on Reddit asking about the nation's most dangerous roads.

That thread called out the Mackinac Bridge as a dangerous roadway - however in the more than twenty years of data collected there appear to be only two fatal accidents on the bridge - this data is years after the infamous 1989 "Yugo" incident where the small vehicle was tossed from the bridge into the straits.

Another 'dangerous' roadway mentioned on the thread was the Lodge. The Detroit area freeway is commonly driven much faster than the posted 55 mile-per-hour speed limit for which the road was designed. The Rodway.Reports data shows dozens of deaths over the years on this freeway with a particular cluster where the Lodge meets the Davison.

Perhaps not surprising given those highways have a complex connection with some left exits and others with very sharp corners.

Even in residential neighborhoods were speeds likely shouldn't reach fatal accident conditions there are some pedestrians struck and collisions with less protected vehicles like scooters.

These Michigan Highways Come to a Complete Dead End

Nearly all highways exist to connect you from one place to another. When you come to the end of the road, there's almost always somewhere else to go. Somewhere to turn. But there are parts of Michigan's highway system that don't leave you anywhere else to go - Michigan's dead end state highways.

Heads Up - These are the Lowest Clearance Bridges in Michigan

It may be funny to see on social media when a truck encounters a bridge that's too low, but it's not a situation you'd ever want to find yourself in. Here are the lowest clearance bridges in Michigan
